The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is an individual membership professional organization representing more than 100,000 member physical therapists (PTs), physical therapist assistants (PTAs), and students of physical therapy.

APTA seeks to improve the health and quality of life of individuals in society by advancing physical therapist practice, education, and research, and by increasing the awareness and understanding of physical therapy's role in the nation's health care system.

Our Mission: Under the leadership of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Department of State promotes the integrity of the electoral process, provides the initial infrastructure for economic development through corporate organizations and transactions, and protects the health and safety of the public. The Department encourages the highest standards of ethics and competence in elections, campaign finance, lobbying disclosure, notarization, professional and occupational licensure, charitable solicitation, and the sports of boxing, wrestling and mixed martial arts. Our Mission: To protect the public by providing service and leadership that promote safe and competent physical therapy practice.

Our Vision: To achieve a high level of public protection through a strong foundation of laws and regulatory standards in physical therapy, effective tools and systems to assess entry-level and continuing competence, and public and professional awareness of resources for public protection.
