Title: Northeast District - Core Competencies in Occupational Health for Entry-Level Physical Therapists

Course Description: This course will discuss how physical therapists can play a role in occupational health by providing ergonomic services, on-site injury triage, job site assessments, and employee wellness programs to employers in order to reduce employee injuries, reduce costs for employers, improve worker productivity, and improve employee health. The author of this course developed core competencies that entry-level physical therapists should possess in order to work in the occupational health space as a physical therapist. This course will also describe career paths for those interested in providing these services and how to get more involved in the Occupational Health Special Interest Group (OHSIG) through the Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy (AOPT) for a rewarding career path.
