Course Description: This course will explore the ethical issues related to choices that physical therapists must make when they are faced with potentially unethical or illegal behavior in their practice settings, especially when those choices are reinforced by supervisors or practice owners. It will offer tools for analyzing such situations and for taking appropriate action in responses. 

Upon conclusion of the course participants will be able to:

• Describe the four interactions that result when considering ethical v unethical and legal v illegal behavior.
• Recognize the realm within which potentially unethical or illegal behavior has its source: individual, organizational, societal.   
• Identify examples from their own practice experience where employment practices may result in unethical conduct.
• Apply the RIPS model in ethical decision making in instances of potentially unethical or illegal behavior related to practice or employment pressures.
