Speaker: Maureen Pascal, PT, DPT, NCS Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Misericordia University.

Course Description: This course is an introduction to the concept of the role of physical therapy in environmental stewardship. Evidence for the contribution health care makes to climate change will be presented along with a discussion of the role of physical therapy within the notion of One Health. The relationship between the environment, human health, and functioning will be explored with particular attention to the role of PTs. Ideas for sustainability at the PT practice level will be examined. An overview of recent international PT efforts in this arena will be explored. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their role as healthcare providers in the stewardship of the environment.
