Course Description:

End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is common condition with many physiologic effects. During this course, the speaker will present a brief overview of kidney function in relation to how physical therapy treatment may need to be adapted to account for the effects of ESRD and discuss the role of physical therapy in the management of ESRD. Additionally, overviews of various forms of renal replacement therapy, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and kidney transplant, will be presented as well as their implications for physical therapy practice.
