Course Title: Pharmacology Considerations for the Older Adult presented by Melissa Bednarek, PT, DPT, PhD

Course Description: This course will discuss high risk medications, side effects of medications, medication reconciliation as a physical therapist and educating patients on their medications. Polypharmacy is a concern, especially in adults over age 65. Physical therapists may be asked to assist with medication management in home health, but this process can be overwhelming. During this 1-hour webinar, strategies for medication management as well as available tools to assist with this process will be presented.

Melissa Bednarek, PT, DPT, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy. With expertise in pharmacology and cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy,she authored modules for the Advanced Competency in HomeHealth and is a faculty member for the ACHH Live course.
