Title: An Emerging Role for Physical Therapy in Addiction Recovery presented by William Hanlon, PT, DPT, MSPT, Cert. MD&T 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to discuss the Scope of the Problem of Addiction
  • Participants will be able to identify various roles for physical therapy in Addiction Recovery
  • Participants will be able to list various diagnoses common in this patient population
  • Participants will be able to discuss a case study of Opioid Pain Pill Addiction and a practical approach to being part of a team to manage the patient and their pain off of opioids.

More About The Speaker:
William Hanlon PT, DPT, MSPT, Cert. MD&T has been involved clinically doing addiction recovery physical therapy since 2008. He has presented on the topic of Addiction Recovery Physical Therapy at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Marshall University School of Physical Therapy, Saint Francis University, and St. Joseph Institute for Addiction Recovery. He Co-Presented with Dr. Sarah Wenger of Drexel University for the American Physical Therapy Association on Chronic Pain and Addiction Recovery Physical Therapy.  Dr Hanlon was chosen by APTA president Sharon Dunn to participate on a national panel on chronic pain, including the addiction recovery perspective which aired on Facebook live.
