Title: SWD: 6 Days to 6 Weeks Postpartum "Know Better, Do Better." 

Course Description: This presentation will provide a brief overview of the needs of the postpartum patient from the acute phase to outpatient care and how physical therapists can provide essential care for this patient population. There will be a focus on safe return to function from a biopsychosocial approach, taking into account Social Determinants of Health that impact the care that patients receive throughout the lifespan.

Speaker: Dr. Noa Goodman

Speaker Bio: Dr. Noa S. Goodman (she, her, hers) is a physical therapist at UPMC Rehabilitation Institute in Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Goodman’s areas of specialization include Trauma-Informed Care, LGBTQIA+ care and education, pelvic pain, genito-urinary and bowel dysfunction, antepartum and postpartum care, oncology rehab, and lymphedema. Dr. Goodman completed her Doctoral degree from the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus in 2018. She is Board-Certified in Women’s Health and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Board Certified through the Lymphology Association of North America. Affiliations and Research Interests: Medical Education Committee for the International Pelvic Pain Society, APTA Academy for Pelvic Health, APTA Academy for Oncology Physical Therapy. Research interests include: Trauma-Informed Care, LGBTQIA+ Care, Perioperative Pelvic Health Rehabilitation for those undergoing laparoscopic surgeries with endometriosis and rehabilitation after hysterectomy, prolapse repair, and gender-affirming surgeries.
