Acute Care SIG: Differential Diagnosis of Dizziness in Acute Care
Wednesday, November 08, 2023, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Category: Webinars

Location: Virtual (Zoom)

Please note: Attendees must be sure to include their full names for attendance and certificate purposes. It is not recommended to share computers while attending a continuing education course as certificates will only be sent to the individual whose full name is shown on the participant list.

Course Information: This webinar will guide the audience through causes of dizziness commonly found in the acute care setting and how to rule in or out vestibular impairment. This process will include how to screen a person for vestibular impairment while in the acute care setting. Information on differentiating between a peripheral cause of vestibular impairment versus a central cause, as well as examples of diagnoses within each category and appropriate interventions for the acute care setting will also be discussed. Because Benign Paroxysmal Peripheral Vertigo (BPPV) is a common cause of acute dizziness, the Webinar will educate viewers on how to test for BPPV as well as how to treat the condition in the acute care setting if present.
