Course Information: Participants will: 1) Define and understand the considerations when determining candidates for lateral ankle reconstruction surgery. 2) Identify relevant anatomy and patient presentation with regards to lateral ankle sprain/injuries. 3) Gain knowledge about the surgical procedure for lateral ankle instability 4) Understand the healing time with regards to tissue healing and stress. 5) Determine appropriate rehabilitation considerations with regards to lateral ankle reconstruction surgery and appropriate clinical reasoning and decision making with regards to returning to normal functional and recreational activities. 6) have the opportunity for a question-and-answer session with the orthopedic surgeon.

Speaker: Dr. Gerald Cush 

Speaker Bio: Dr. Gerald Cush from SUN Orthopedics in Lewisburg, PA will present on lateral ankle reconstruction surgery including, but no limited to, clinical presentation, tests and measures to determine level of ankle instability, thought processes on determining appropriate candidates for the surgery, the surgical procedure including relevant anatomy, healing times with regards to tissues stress, rehabilitation implications including immobilization, weight bearing, precautions/contraindications, and criteria to return to normal activities. He will also host a question-and-answer session for attendees at the conclusion of the presentation.
