Speakers: Brandi Penatzer, MPAS, PA-C

About the Speaker:  Brandi Penatzer has been a practicing physician assistant for the past 17 years. She completed her college studies at St Francis University, with a BS in Health Science 2005 and master’s in physician assistant sciences in 2006. Her clinical experience includes time at West Penn Hospital as an Orthopedic PA-C. She then transitioned into the field of pain management, with special interest in management of cancer related pain. As a member of the Pennsylvania Pain Society, she has provided clinician and patient education seminars to help educate everyone about non-opioid related treatments for chronic pain. She developed a multi-faceted approach to managing pain with techniques to include behavioral medicine, physical therapy, interventional pain management, as well as traditional pain medications as indicated. In 2021, she left clinical practice and rejoined the PA department at St Francis University. She was hired as a clinical educational coordinator and continues in this role today. Over the past year, she co-founded an online telemedicine wellness clinic.

Course Description: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed comprehensive guidelines to address the ongoing opioid crisis, aiming to improve patient outcomes while minimizing the risks associated with opioid therapy. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the CDC Guidelines on Opioid Management, offering healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders a clear understanding of the principles, recommendations, and practical strategies for effective opioid management.
