Title: A Breath of Fresh Air: The “When, Why, and How” of Implementing Physical Therapy Pulmonary Interventions Across the Continuum of Care Speaker: Elizabeth Narducci is faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Physical Therapy Department within the hybrid program. She has been a Physical Therapist for ten years. Elizabeth graduated from Kenyon College in2007 with a BA in Biology, where she played four years of basketball—graduating from WalshUniversity in 2011 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and from Kent State University in 2017 with a Ph.D. in Exercise Science. Her clinical experience has been in outpatient and acute care settings at the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. She is currently working in the acute care setting at university Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where she specializes in evaluating and treating patients with cardiopulmonary diagnoses. Her academic career began in 2017 as she took on a position at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, where she was actively involved in the accreditation process within the new PT program. Her teaching areas include cardiopulmonary physical therapy, medical screening, biomechanics, and therapeutic exercise. She has developed and is currently teaching the first cohort of hybrid students’ cardiopulmonary courses I and II within the Pitt hybrid program. She is working on developing health and wellness and medically complex patient courses. She has engaged in research related to common PT interventions and how that impact falls/balance in older adults, joint replacement surgeries and how successful outcomes are defined, and variables related to patient care in the acute care setting in those with common cardiopulmonary diagnoses. Elizabeth lives in Lakewood, OH, a sizeable urban suburb of Cleveland, where she enjoys long runs, watching all Cleveland sports teams, and spending time with her husband and three-year-old son.
