Course Title: Contemporary Wound Care: New Concepts or No t? presented by Pamela G. Unger, PT, CWS
Course description:
This course
will address standard wound principles with a contemporary lens. Taking the
accepted standards of care and merging them with new technology. The cours
e will look at dressings, biophysical agents, reimbursement, and the role o
f Physical Therapy in wound management.
More About The Speaker:
Pam is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Her successful
physical therapy career has spanned over 40 years as an executive, clinici
an, educator and reimbursement expert navigating the wound care, medical de
vice and rehabilitation markets. Her specialization in wound care has led h
er career in unique and interesting directions. Her proudest accomplishment
was the establishment of a multi-disciplinary wound care programs and algo
rithms that still exists today. This endeavor allowed her to forge powerfu
l relationships with key professionals and accounts in the wound care marke
tplace. It also required the effective communicate and collaboration inter-
professionally.
Pam has also served as President of the PPTA and the Clinical Electrophysiology and Wound Management Academy.
The uniquene ss of her specialization within physical therapy required her to be an advo cate for her patients and the profession, particularly from a reimbursement perspective. She worked closely with the American Physical Therapy Associa tion in the development and maintenance of the Active Wound Management CPT codes. This experience has allowed me to develop dynamic and successful hea lth policy teams that continually exceed expectations in the reimbursement arena.
Pam has authored over 50 publications and multiple book chapte rs. She has presented extensively in the United States and internationally. She currently is a member of the Editorial Board of Today’s Wound Clinic. Pam is currently the ACCE at Alvernia University.
