Course Title: "Let's Prevent All of the Pressure!" presented by Kelly Repka, MPT, Certificate Lymphedema Therapist, Master Clinician for wound care and lymphedema Clinical Director, Genesis Rehab Services.

Course Description:
This course will review the anatomy and physiology of the skin and how aging can affect the largest organ of the body. We will review how we, as physical therapists, can prevent pressure injuries and the importance of prevention. We will then review what we can do to treat pressure injuries if they do occur. Lastly, we will review what our role is and how to work with the interdisciplinary team to prevent and treat pressure injuries.

More About the Speaker:
Kelly Repka graduated from Duquesne University in 2004 with her Masters in Physical Therapy. She has practiced in the post acute care setting for over 16 years primarily with Genesis Rehab Services (GRS). She has worked with the geriatric population in a variety of settings including skilled nursing, long term care, assisted and independent living as well as in the community. Kelly’s current role with GRS is a Clinical Director. She provides clinical and regulatory support and guidance to PTs, OTs, SLPs, and RTs. She is also a member of the skin integrity practice council for Genesis Healthcare which provides practice management and guidance to the field in regards to skin and wound management. In addition, Kelly is an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University where she teaches their Integumentary course and was recently asked to join the Moravian College DPT Advisory Committee and help develop their integumentary course. Kelly obtained her certification in lymphedema in 2016 to add to her wound care portfolio. Kelly’s other areas of expertise include falls management and dementia care. Kelly is a member of the APTA including chapters for PA and NJ.
